What is the difference between essential oil and body oil?

Essential oil is a concentrated and aromatic product, whereas body oil is a blend prepared to be applied directly to the skin.

The main difference is the function, concentration, and use:

Essential oil

  • It is a highly concentrated extract from plants (flowers, leaves, bark, etc.).
  • It contains the plant’s active aromatic compounds.
  • It is used in very small amounts.
  • It is usually not applied directly to the skin, it must be diluted.
  • It is mainly used in aromatherapy, diffusers, or targeted treatments.

Body oil

  • It is a cosmetic product already prepared for skin use.
  • It is formulated with vegetable oils, such as almond oil, and with essential oils.
  • It is designed to be applied directly to the skin.
